This time, we talked about CSS. CSS means Cascading Style Sheet, which is basically a more complex Hyper Text Markup Language, or HTML, but the final product is much much more beautiful and stylish.
We were told to watch a video on CSS. The URL for the video is http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Er-q_vuAe9M&feature=player_embedded# it is a short video, around 7.5 minutes, but it tells you a lot about using and the product of the complex CSS in a rather short time. It teaches you how to format your font of your words like its colour, weight and size. I learned a lot from this tutorial and i would want to learn even more on my following lessons!

Third Lesson
Today, we learned about HTML. HTML means Hyper Text Markup Language, which is the code used to create webpages. We were told to watch a video, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ByukxrccQf8&feature=player_embedded
We learned about the opening and closing brackets necessary for HTML.I dint' expect what seems to be a easy task of creating a webpage could be this complicated! Learning HTML would make us be aware of the difficulties and troubles that a webmaster would face when he or she creates a websites, and the things behind a beautiful webpage. Even this blog has a HTML! So don't take the beautiful webpages you visit everyday for granted!

Second Lesson
This time, we did an online forum discussion on copyright on http://webnewmedia.ning.com/. this is the website that our teacher posts the things he would do for the lessons. We watched a video by Hossan Leong, Copy Not Right. The URL is http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ByukxrccQf8&feature=player_embedded.
For me, i think that infringing copyright is a serious offense. It is very wrong to infringe the copyright law, as it would not credit the owners of the files or other items that they made themselves with what they deserve. Many people infringe the copyright law without realizing it. We should be aware of copyright or risk being sued. So, think twice before downloading anything on the net!

First Lesson

This is my blog for my infocom studies (IS) lessons. On Thursday, we, class 103, had our first IS lesson. We started off by watching a video, "Did You Know?", on youtube. Then, we learn more about the internet
Actually, every website has an IP address, which is a number code that leads you to the specific website. Example, Youtube has a IP address too, but for it to be easier for the people to remember a specific website, a URL is used. An example of a URL is "www.youtube.com".Imagine typing numbers to access a website!
In the past, computers connect to the internet through a standard telephone line, which was called dial up. So don't take for granted the high speed internet connection you have at home and get all fussed up just because it lags a bit.
Lastly, we learnt about web 1.0 and web 2.0. They are terms that you cannot find in the dictionary. Web 1.0 is updated by the webmaster, which make his job tedious, but web 2.0 is updated by several people, both the webmaster and its users. An example of a web 2.0 is Wikipedia. Web 2.0 also have a wider range of information as compared to web 1.0, as the information in web 1.0 is limited by the webmaster's knowledge, unlike web 2.0 which gets information from all the different users with different knowledge and points of view.
I think that IS is an interesting subject, and would continue to interest me throughout. I learnt a lot from this lesson, like a website's IP address, web 1.0 and web 2.0. I hope to learn much more things like HTML and c++.
